Every other who has lost any individual in September has strong recommendations about this Tune. Some people really like this Music, while others dodge it because it brings back sad Reminiscences. This music was sung by Billie with emotions that made her feelings echo even more. this track is also misunderstood a lot. Many interpret this music to tell about the September 11, 2001 terrorist assaults that killed 3,000 people. This track absolutely suits and Green Day band members recognize the similarity. Though this tune definitely tells the incident that took place 19 years before 11 September 2001.

The real meaning
This music tells about Billie’s father Joe Armstrong who died of cancer September 1, 1982. Billie was 10 years old at that time. His father’s funeral was too painful for him and he broke down in tears. He left the funeral first, ran to the condo and locked himself in his room. When the mother knocked on Billie’s door, she shouted “Wake me up when September ends.” Those words kept remembering in his head and finally Billie poured out his feelings through track 20 years afterwards in 2003. That’s why Billie entered the line “Like my father’s come to pass, 20 years has gone so fast”. At the beginning of Billie’s track mentions 7 years, he talked about 7 years between his father’s dying and the formation of Green Day. The other contents of the tune are expressions of Billie’s ache when he lost his father. Here’s the track lyrics from Green Day – Wake Me Up When September Ends
